Isaac is 1 and a half year old, a beautiful baby from the Santa Elena Province.

His mother contacted us through our social media, because his pediatrician heard a heart murmur and she was worried without any means for medical attention.

We sponsored an ecocardiogram and it was evaluated by our cardiologist, Rodrigo Mendoza in Cuenca who volunteers with our cases.

Fortunately his condition is known as an innocent murmur.

So he can continue his life in a very healthy way.

From the Province of Chimborazo comes 1 1/2 year old Jisela from Riobamba.

Her father contacted us looking for help from a reference given by the mother of our Child 536 Sidny.

Yesterday Dr. Pablo Salamea Molina our medical director repaired her cleft palate.

The surgery went great and now Jisela will learn how to speak and eat her food correctly and not have to worry about food entering her palate.
She will have a better life thanks to the continued generosity of our donors.

Meet 12 year old Nayali who has been wearing hearing aids since she was a toddler.

Her father contacted us asking for help in replacing her hearing aids that were not reparable. The father had been able to raise half the money so HKIE helped with the rest so Nayali could hear again and return to her school work.

This case represents that another life has been saved!

This is the case of 16 year old Angel.
We were contacted by Fundacion Metrofraternidad in Quito with an urgent request to help this young man.

They informed us it was an emergency case: the young man had ventricular tachycardia and without immediate surgery was not expected to live.

Thanks to Dr. Francisco Rodriquez and his team at Hospital Metropolitano a defibrilator was implanted and the doctors are extremely pleased with the results.

A huge thank you to Hospital Metropolitano, the doctors and staff, and all our donors.

Our beautiful child is Maria Arleth.

She is 1 and a half years old and comes from Manglaralto a town in the coastal region of Ecuador.
Her mother contacted us because she has Knock knees (genu valgum) and flat feet.

We sponsored orthopedic boots and leg shapers and she will start a better way to recovery and a secure way of walking and enjoying her childhood.

Cristofer is from Santa Elena Province in the coast of Ecuador.

We sponsored his glasses and coordinated with the help of our coastal support Sister Verónica, his cataract surgery at Roberto Gilbert Hospital in Guayaquil in a month or so.

This is 3 month old Sidny from Otavalo.

Her family took the 11 hour bus ride to come to Cuenca for Dr. Pablo Salamea our medical director to repair her cleft lip.

Her family had been very concerned because Sidny had many problems swallowing her milk without losing most of it due to the cleft lip.

As she got older, she also would not be able to speak clearly. Not a problem now.

The second picture shows how beautiful she is after just 2 weeks. Her mom and dad are over the moon happy!

What a handsome guy!

Alex Mathias is our child from the coastal town of Manglaralto.

His mother contacted us through a foreign person living in that town who told her about our work.

Alex got a very specialized pair of glasses that will allow him to better see this beautiful world.
He called us to say thank you from the bus going home with his mom, and said : Now I will be able to study well!

Marcelita's mother contacted us through our social media. And we did all possible to help her.
This little darling is nine years old and has Cerebral Palsy.
She's having trouble getting the necessary nutrients in through a feeding tube. She met today with Dra. Paola Jaramillo at Hospital del Rio in Cuenca. Dra. Jaramillo is a children's nutritionist. They came up with a game plan to greatly benefit Marcelita's health. So fortunate for these amazing doctors who are willing to help these little kids!

She is lucky enough to have a very loving family, but did not have any way to sit up or join in their daily routines.
She spent her time laying on the couch, laying on the cold tile floor on a blanket or being carried.
We delivered her a specialized wheelchair , one that will allow her to live a much fuller life.

Her face lit up as did her whole family's.
Now, she can go to the neighborhood park with her Mom, Dad and sisters and everyone can have an easier day.
As far as volunteering goes, this was a beautiful event for all involved.

Thank you donors, from the bottom of our hearts. Changing this child's life is just magical.
