Meet 17 year old Zaida, who was brought to our attention by a post made by Maria Jose of Hearts of Gold Foundation in Cuenca. Zaida wanted her own bike so she could ride around with her brothers and Hearts of Gold Foundation provided her with one. When we saw the photo of Zaida riding her bike with one leg, we made contacts to see if they were interested in a prosthetic leg. No surprise they said yes! Now she can have a better life thanks to our donors!  Meet Claudio Santiago. Santy has Cerebral Palsy. His mother contacted us because he can not walk. We had a special walker custom made to help his mobility. And he is ready to start a new chapter in his life! Bless all of our donors and sponsors of our kids! Diego Alfonso has a special condition called AUTISMO MODERADO, as well as myopia. His mother contacted us because she heard on our social media about the good work our Foundation does. Our generous donors with the work of ExiLáser in Cuenca, helped us provide him with new glasses. He was very excited! Daniela is eighteen years old. She has Downs Syndrome and very low vision. She came to Exilaser with her Mother and older sister. The level of caring they showed to her was beautiful to watch. He sister sat in the exam chair before her to show her what to expect. She was very nervous but LOVED her new glasses. Thanks to our generous donors and Exilaser. We are blessed to meet families like this!  Our beautiful Child is little Maria Eduarda who is afflicted with Prader Willis Syndrome. She has trouble walking, so it was recommended that she gets new, better braces for her feet and lower legs that should help her with her physical therapy sessions. She's a real sweetie! This is 14 year old Johao. One side of his ribcage is growing at an outward angle. After an exam and several tests ordered by Dr. Marcano, a pediatric cardio specialist and surgeon, it was determined that Johao's problem is confined strictly to the ribcage structure. It was recommended he get a special corset which can be adjusted to force the ribcage back where it belongs. He will more than likely have to wear the corset for a few years.Time will tell. HKIE was contacted by Fundación Metrofraternidad "Salvemos Vidas" in Quito with the request to help with the surgeries of two children. First was Maria Belen, a young 15 year old in her second year of high school. She was suffering from severe abdominal pain which restricted any activity or studies. It was discovered she had a problem with her colon. After a 4 hour surgery and 10 days in the hospital this young lady will now be able to get back to her normal teenage life! Our second child was Alice, a little two year old suffering from a birth defect to her heart. She lives in Quito with her 28 year old parents who are furthering their studies but do not have full time employment. The cardiac surgery took 5 hours. After 3 days in ICU and 7 more in the hospital, the doctors declared her well and able to live a normal life. Two more children, both suffering, will now have healthy, normal lives!
