Monday in Guayaquil, Romina (from Salinas) had surgery to create her second ear and a touch up from her first ear surgery done last year. (She suffered from microtia on both sides which is quite rare.)
The surgeries were performed by Dr Fernando Quintana Jedermann at his clinic. Dr Fernando waived his surgical fees for both surgeries and provided HKIE with substantial discounts on the hospital costs.
Romina will need one more surgery to finish her new ear.
As you can see from her photo, she was very excited to have her second ear created.

As a reminder, November of last year, Romina had a cochlear hearing device implant surgery performed by Dr Diego Maldonado at Hospital Del Rio in Cuenca. Dr Diego waived his surgical fees and Hospital Del Rio also gave HKIE a substantial discount!
Romina now can hear and is doing very well in school.....and can now look forward to a healthy, bright future..
To profoundly change a child's life for the better is a beautiful thing!
