This is 18 day old Roberta. She was born with such a severe clef lip that she had a very difficult time getting enough milk to stay in her mouth.
Seen with Roberta and her mother is Dra. Mariela Siguencia of Hospital del Rio who fashioned a special prosthetic for Roberta's mouth. Once she attains the necessary age of 3 months, Dr. Pablo Salamea Molina will perform the cleft lip repair at Hospital Del Rio.
As you can imagine, Roberta mother is thrilled that her baby will have this surgery.
