The Ministry of Health in the Santa Elena Province asked if HKIE could help some severely handicapped children get some very needed wheelchairs.
Thanks to Dr. Pablo, our medical Director, we have a very good working relationship with the Ministry of Health and were glad to fulfill their request.
Wednesday, thanks to the tireless efforts of our treasurer and coastal rep, Luis Galarza, 5 wheelchairs and a shower chair were purchased for these children.
#563. Maylee, 12 years old goes to the Melvin Jones School in La Liberdad.
#564. Dilan, 6 years old with his first wheelchair.
#565. Elian, 9 years old, also his first wheelchair.
#566. Noemy, 16 years old. Noemy had a plastic wheelchair made locally which was not sturdy enough for the outdoors.
567 18 year old Luis Antonio whose back was broken earlier this year. While he is slowly healing, he was in need of a wheelchair and a shower chair.
Thanks to Luis and all our loyal supporters, these children will have a greater opportunity to see the world!
