Little baby Pedro needs to wait a bit over 2 months to get his cleft lip fixed, so in the meantime, Dra Mariela Elisa Siguencia fashioned a mouthpiece so he can correctly eat and breathe.
Little Corina at 6 months had her cleft lip repaired by Dr Pablo Salamea Molina at Hospital del Rio.
Last is Dulce, with her cleft lip...shown before and just post surgery..
Three children whose lives have been (and will be) changed for the better...to lead happy, successful lives. The children and families thank all the HKIE supporters who make these surgeries and procedures possible.

Child #285

This is 16 year old Hilda. Hilda was born with a malormed hip and unfortunately her parents were told she neede to wait til she was older to get it corrected.
Dr.Gustavo Ochoa examined her and determined she will need a hip replacement, but if done now she would most likely need at least two more. In the hopes of easing her pain he determined that special orthopedic shoes may help until she is in her early 20's and suitable for surgery.
Her special shoes need to lift the one foot almost 2 inches. The shoe was made to Hilda's specs, so no one could tell she needed special shoes. We are all hoping and praying these shoes will help her live a good life while she awaits surgery.

This is 7 year old Dulce (who is as sweet as her name!). Her vision is so poor in her right eye she could not read the largest letter on the eye test. Her parents were afraid she was going blind.
After a thorough eye exam, it was determined she has no eye disease. With the proper lenses she can now see perfectly. Thanks to our HKIE donors, Dulce will now be able to continue learning in school and have a normal life.
