This is Carla, a teenager from the Cuenca area whose eyesight had been deteriorating to the point that her vision was marginal at best and getting worse over time.

Lindsay Burton, owner of Cafe San Sebas, posted Carla's story asking for donations so Carla could receive her much needed eye surgery.

Thanks to the generous people who donated and Dr Robinson's willingness to discount his services, Carla recently had her surgery and it was a total success! She now has normal vision!

Carla needed glasses and HKIE was happy to pay for them...

The gift of sight is a beautiful thing.....

Thanks to you Lindsay for caring enough to post Carla's story and to all the people who donated money for the surgery..

This is Anthony, another child brought to us and Rostros Felices Cuenca by Karina, queen of Azogues. He had cleft palate surgery today at Hospital Del Rio, performed by Dr Pablo Salamea. The hopes of his mother (pictured here with Karina and Dr. Pablo), is that he will now be able to speak clearly and be understood. Another child whose future will be a lot brighter thanks to the cooperation of Ecuadorians and the expat community.

Klever, pictured here with his mom and Dr Pablo Salamea, had the hole between his nose and mouth repaired...plus a redo of his cleft lip...and Dr Pablo also realigned his nose! Soon to be a handsome young boy.

Klever was brought to us and Fundacion Rostros Felices by the queen of Azogues, Karina. Karina has not only been locating children who need surgeries but also getting all the pre op work done! BIG thank you to Karina!

Klever is the 69th child helped by HKIE and the first of many who will be operated on through the partnership of Rostros Felices Cuenca and HKIE.
