This is Dely, a 4 year old from Guaranda (2 hours from Riobamba).
HKIE brought her to Cuenca for testing with Dr. Santiago Peralta and Dr. Cristian Bravo. (Both of Hospital del Rio) Dely has been unable to walk and her limbs are very rigid. Both doctors are doing tests to see what they can do to improve her quality of  life.
Her baby teeth have become infected and damaged from medication. This afternoon, Dr. J. Luis Izquierdo of Hospital del Rio, will perform oral surgery to remove or correct her upper teeth to allow her permanent teeth to grow in correctly.
Dely is an example of many doctors working together to provide medical care to the less fortunate children of Ecuador.
We wish to extend a special thanks to Veronica of the Emaus House for taking such good care of Dely and her mother during this trying time.
Thanks also to all our friends and HKIE supporters, and of course to Hospital del Rio.

This is Johana, an 11 year old from the Quito area. At birth, her left leg was amputated above the knee and her right leg was amputated at the foot. She has spent her entire life in a wheelchair.
Thanks to our contact at Protetis Imbambura in Ibarra, HKIE was able to help the family purchase prostheses for both legs! Now with some physical therapy, this little girl will finally be able to walk. What a blessing to both her and her family!
A huge thank you goes out to Luis Galarza, our HKIE Salinas board member, for coordinating this effort!
Thanks to all our supporters for helping to change Johana's life in such a positive way!
